I invented this game (with Karen Bryla) because it seems like when you know someone well enough, 75-80% of any Rock-Paper-Scissors games you play with that person end up in a tie. Well, here is a slight variation that reduces that probability. (Note that for those of you who like to swing your fist back and forth and say, "Rock, Paper, Scissors, GO!", might want to continue to do that, replacing "Rock" with "One," "Paper" with "Two," and "Scissors" with "Three.") This version is also nice because it satisfies the Law of Fives.

Four score and seven parsec ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new OS, conceived in Linux, and dedicated to the proposition that all process are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great techno war, testing whether that OS, or any OS, so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field 2 of that techno war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their virtual lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate IP—we can not consecrate IP—we can not hallow—this ground. The brave processes, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little text, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated server here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here a dedicated server to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead process we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead process shall not have died in vain—that this OS, under Technology, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that Softwware: of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

Ten Commandments

1. You shall have no other OS before me.


2. You shall not make for yourself any .jpg image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor server them. For I, the Lord of PC your OS, am a jealous OS, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My software.


3. You shall not take the name of your OS in vain, for the OS will not hold him guiltless who takes OS in vain.


4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord of PC your OS. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your sun server, nor your daughter process, nor your work server, nor your home server, nor your cable, nor your stranger who is within your firewall gates. For in six days the Lord of PC made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord of PC blessed the Sabbath day and hacked it.


5. Honor your Keyboard and your monitor, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord of your PC is giving you.

6. You shall not kill processes.


7. You shall not commit hackery.


8. You shall not steal internet.


9. You shall not bear false statements.


10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s machine; you shall not covet your neighbor’s WiFi, nor his work server, nor his home server, nor his OS, nor his Dongle, nor anything that is your neighbor’s."

Holy Books

As we set forth and travel the sky’s the limit. With our digital lives in our hands we become one with free WiFi. To let travel times and delays’ matter not with our holy books at the ready. We can receive those blessed emails and find our power point. To those needed who will hover on our glow of our holy books. We must learn to share the words and images of the digital age to our less fortunate brothers.

Time is brutal in processing power. Ram is limited in time. Yet, we still keep moving forward one click at a time. Unable to run OS X in good time. we still love OS 9. Turn of key and your turn on a dime. We pray every day that you will run on time. Y2K will not affect you anyway. We will continue on everyday.

As we set forth another day and click forward. May our machines boot to our favoirte screen. Time may take megabites from our memory. Let it not take our favorite data.
